Default River Aire, opposite Bradley

I know that I may be repeating my question again.....but what is the river Aire like opposite Bradley, near Skipton? Bradford No1 owns a field and Bradford City owns the opposite bank all the way near skipton by-pass.

What fish am I likely to catch?

Here is a picture of the area. I would have taken more photos but my camera died on me..

Chub, roach, trout pike and shedloads of minnows.

The basic problem (allegedly) is the liquid waste tip that you can see from the bypass. I have driven past that at 3/4 oclock in the morning on my way fishing and seen wagons pumping out there. Now why would anyone want to pump a wagon out at that time in a morning???
makes you think doesn't it.

I have never fly fished it but I have bait fished the Aire since I was a nipper.

It used to be one of the best stretches for big roach around but not in recent years. Connonly - the fields above and below the bridge would probably be a better bet for the fly.

Or go to Funkirk farm, that's further upstream.
Brings back memeories it does

Thanks for the message.

Did you report them to the Environment Agency? I think you should have done if you didn't.

My father and I normally fish the left hand side of the Broughton stretch. I've had some nice grayling, pike and trout out of the river and my dad has caught some nice chub too.

I think I might have to get back into fishing for pike again, as its been years since I have caught one.

What could I report? that there was someone using, what was then and maybe still is, a perfectly legal liquid dumping tip at 3.00AM on a Sunday.

I had no evidence to suggest that there was anything illegal happening, it just seemed curious that someone would clean out tanks at that time in a morning.

Have you tried any of the Bingley AC or Saltaire AC waters on the Aire? They are absolutely stiff with trout and very few people fly fish for them; except me of course

No I havent tried Bradford or Soltaire ac waters as I'm only interested in the two clubs I'm with.

I go to Addingham, Buckden and Appletreewick on the Wharfe for my trout and grayling.
