Default River Earn

Fishing well for sea trout, several caught on Crieff water when water up last weekend and again this morning. Seems to be a good few fish around.

Frankie, Kinkell bridge. What a lovely place in this world. Also with the lovely Sandy in charge, who could want for a more tranquil place. I have fished it quite a few times with my father in law who lives in Muthill. Unfortunately i live in Yorkshire, so i dont get up there as much as i wouold like, but you may have pricked my memories enough to try and get back up there asap. You`re a lucky fella!!

HI deano iv only fished that beat twice first time was only 4 weeks ago.
last night was one of those hot summer nights that just doesnt get dark up here still no wind and lots of midges about ( skin so soft ) there were lots of large olives hatching but very little trout i caught a few grayling on small hares ear type nymphs just as it was getting dark ( the beat below the large green hut if that means anything to you) we fished on untill 12 midnight but
i dont know how this river fishes or if sea trout would crash about the pools but it was very still last night nothing was moving maybe i was using the wrong tactics for sea trout in this area the water was at summer level i think
size 10 invicta on the dropper with small medicine double size 10 on the point

Hi Frankie, I cant say im much of an expert when it comes to the River earn, as i am taken there occasionally, and left, as to not cause any problems to the "proper fishermen" haha. Im sure Sandy would be glad to pass on any tactics (he knows the river like the back of his hand) he is usually found in the the brown hut either just before the bridge, or just after depending on which way you approach (obviously). Tell him you have been talking to Colin`s son in law (the actor) he will know who you mean, and im sure will impart MUCH knowledge.

I fish the Earn around Crieff. Sea Trout (and Salmon) don't show so much, especially if water is the cold "generating" sort (its pulled from the bottom of Loch Earn). Usually takes a really good hatch to get the trout up from the bottom but evening rises are fairly consitent.

Think most of the usual Seatrout patterns work.

I usually fish a Dark Mackerel on the Dropper and a Stoats tail on the point but others swear by invicta's, butcher's and Teal Blue & Silver's.

Water is up at the moment and there are fish about.
