Small - River Fly Fishing for Trout and Grayling by James Evans.

Old but all relevent stuff. Bit of a classic in my opinion. Nice, simple, pragmatic approach that does not prattle on about £300 rods and reels best suited to the male jewlery market. He even suggests sawing bits off your reel to make it more practical.

Things have moved on a bit but the information is all good and if absorbed will make for a great foundation course.

Don't think it's still in print so trawl the secondhand market.
