Default Fly Fishing in Eire

As a course angler I've fished the Blackwater in Fermoy, The Shannon and surrounding lakes in the Roosky area and Inniscarra Reservoir.

I'm new to fly fishing and have been thinking of a fly fishing holiday in Eire, I would be looking to fish small rivers and streams. Any advice would be much appreciated.

TF

Default fly fishing in Ireland

Try the river NORE I did 26 years ago and Iam still here. This river is Ierlands best kept secret, got the arms pulled off me this year so many salmon in the river it was embarrassing hooked over 70 fish and landed and released 57 to 18 lbs with an average size of 10 lbs,All the fish were sea liced and had no net marks(unusual in Ireland). The stop the net campaign has worked well for us in the south east of Ireland. Most of the fishing on the Nore is run by clubs and at 25 to 35 euro a day is good value.
for more info. try www.irishflycraft.com whare Jimmy Tyrrell can look after your trout fishing and for salmon try www.noresalmon.com

Many thanks 25lbs, it was the trout fishing I was interested in, or grayling, are there grayling in Eire?

I did contemplate moving to Eire at one point, even visited a Career Centre in Longford, she asked "are you a builder or a farmer?", "no" says I, "then you'll struggle to find work over here!" Perhaps I'll settle for the occasional holiday!

Thanks again.

Talking

"This river is Ierlands best kept secrete."

Two friends having a chat
"I am going to tell you a secret but don't tell anyone" says the first chap
On being encumbered with the secretive information he set about telling everyone who would listen
Learning this his friend was very upset and asked why he had not kept his secret ,to which he received the answer
"If you could'nt keep it secret and had to tell someone how do you expect me to keep it ,

Just a little bit of nonsense this Saturday morning Hugh

Default Irelands best kept secret

No one told me to keep that secret, so have you heard about the Nore before? It is one of the best fly waters in Ireland. So to answer Temefisher there are no grayling that I know about in Ireland.
