Default Spey news

Between 1800 & 1900 springers caught on the river by May 13th, which is excellent.
New Director appointed for the Fishery Board of which more in due course.

Default Better & better.....

34 salmon at Wester Elchies this week including 13 yesterday; the best spring week for many a year. Pity last week only produced 6 when I was there for a couple of days.........

Anyone else see a connection? Twenty two before ACT ventures north, 6 when ACT is in residence, 34 when ACT ventures south. Coindence? I think not

What about March, then? I cannot think which 'expert' fisherman had fished every day & not caught a fresh fish, & then I come up for two days only & catch two.......

Nah, last week was a change in a previously steady weather pattern which made the fish run through.

Makes me wonder if Wester Elchies is relatively better as a spring beat, the fish stopping here at the bottom of the steepest section?

7 weeks of the season still to go & Wester Elchies already has 310, the best total for at least 12 years. 32 this last week shows what happened to the grilse that normally peak in July.
