Areet Nigel,

I've fished the Mitton water a couple of times and wasn't impressed. The fish I caught were in poor nick and looked like they had been mis-handled on previous occasions. Too heavily fished perhaps?

Cant comment on the overfished angle as only ever seen one angler on the NWW beat!
Have caught trout and grayling,in good order, as well- but mainly fish at night for ST so that may not help

it can be a good stretch at the right time for all fish, it can also get hammered by seatrout fishers, but it's cheap for such a long stretch, worth ago as both the hodder and calder flow into the Ribb and form two big pools , the later being a good holding pool.
regards speers

Fished above the Hodder confluence today the water came up fast and dirty at about 10 am. I had a chat with another angler who had taken a couple on dry before the rain started. I gave up and went home I did see a couple of fish move. I had however ventured out to try my new rod i had built as a feature on www.graylinghunter.co.uk web page it casted without any problems its just a shame i couldn't christen it with a fish today. I suppose I might have caught one if i had continued but it would of been against the odds on the fly but not impossible.

Fished the River hodder today water dropping off very quickly higher up although it was only just dropping some of the extra color at 1200. The wind and light rain battered us today although we did get some sunshine bringing on the hatch. A cold nor easter chilled the bones the first true cold snap I have fished in this year.

A mixed bag of grayling trout and parr rewarded our poor weather conditions. well over 30 fish between us many of them not much bigger than the dropper although Barry caught four good sized grayling the best of was about 24 oz cracking fish for this for up on Dry as well the master will be pleased No hot spoons on the back of your hands today my hippy m8.
I had a few good sized trout very silver in color but bright vivid spots and only one grayling which fell for a gold head red tag tied by Barry.
The 590-4 z-axis rod build was at last christened but not by anything that tested its bullying power.
A very enjoyable change I look forward to going again
Phil

Default ribble

Hi graylinghunter
Dont go for the big mistake and land in trouble as the Seatrout season has now ended on the Ribble
However the Salmon are spread right through now but with a lot of coloured fish to a fresh ratio-(fished as far up as Stainforth and low as 'Tickled Trout' ,but not managed a clean one yet)
River currently back to summer levels and after the big tides LAST weekend we now need rain to bring in the freshers from the sea to further upstream than Preston where i saw pics of bars o silver to 16lb
What are you like at the rain dance? - If we all do it at the same time!
