Default New Forest - Hampshire

Hi

I will be staying in the Fordingbridge (New Forest) area next week and would like some advice on the best place to river fish, i.e. Test, Itchen, Frome, Piddle, Avon, Kennet etc... If you were in the area where would you go? Will contact the Rod Box regarding the Itchen but should i be going elsewhere?! Any advice appreciated! My internet searches only ever seem to result in the 'fishing breaks' website!

Couple of local suggestions;

Try Richard Slocock's beat of the Frome at Moreton - lovely spot, challenging fishing, I had my PB fly caught grayling of 1-12 out of there last October;

You could also ask Richard how the Piddle is fishing, it's well stocked with excellent wild browns and he has some fine beats in the middle stretches. It might be a bit weedy now but levels should have held up.

Or pop up to Avon Springs for a river and lake day, their 2/3 of a mile of the Avon is on a famous stretch fished in the past by Sawyer and Kite. Again nice grayling and browns and maybe some big rainbows too...
