Default Tummel

I fished the Tummel at Ballinluig yesterday afternoon/evening. Blazing hot day, it seemed that summer had finally arrived. But the river was high and too deep or too fast to get in to wade in most places. I rashly got into one streamy section with the water threatening the top of my chest waders and rose and hooked a good trout on a sedge pattern, skated as it dragged across the current and I clung on to a tree branch to avoid being swept downstream. Looked to be at least 18" - but I was not able to verify as it opted for long-distance release. Other than that usual collection of small stuff.

Wading the Tummel is exciting, but then again so is bungee jumping without a rope.

Cracking river though. Sunset on the Tummel must be amongst the best dry fly fishing in the world.
