Default Wye / Elan present conditions

I have a weeks fishing on the Wye near Rhayader from Saturday but with the forecast looking grim i'm trying to formulate a back up plan in case the river is not fishable. Been following the Wye and Usk gauge on their site all week and though it is dropping today forecast doesn't offer much hope.

Does anyone know how high the upper Wye is at present ?

Will the River Elan be better ?

Are there any Wye and Usk roving voucher beats that would be fishable next week after lots of rain.

How about the Elan Valley resevoirs?

Many Thanks

The upper river and the voucher beats should have plenty of fishable water in them next week.

For the main river, I would try anywhere from Doldowllod up stream to the Elan.

Passport beats: Try The Edw and Llynfi Dulas. The Edw is a bedrock stream and will clear within 24hrs. The latter is tiny and more lowland in character but has loads and loads of fish - head for the middle beats and be quiet!

The main river above builth is in perfect order and should be fine for next week, enjoy.

If not then daddies on Elan Reservoirs will be great.

But the forecast for later next week is not too bad at all!

15mm won't make a blind bit of difference.

All rivers will be in pefect order. Sedges on the surface and nymphs to match below. More September fishing than August, unless it hots up (some chance) so all day but particularly mid afternoon for trout and grayling.

Now, try and calm down!
