Default PAAS - Welsh Rivers

I joined PAAS this year and during some holiday in August I want to go over to Wales and try some trout fishing.

I've never been before and as its quite a long way I wanted to see if anyone would mind pointing me in the right direction so I can target one of the waters that will be not too difficult for a relative newcomer (and having not fished in the area at all before).

So if any PAAS members on here wouldn't mind giving me an idea of where might be worth trying it would be appreciated. I would prefer to get to one of the waters that is a bit secluded and, if there are any, a bit wild !

If you don't want to openly post any feedback then please PM me.

Thankyou in advance.

Fishcake

Check your membership card. From August onwards a lot of Beats are closed unless you have been on a work party.

If it's trout that you are after then I would suggest that you have a look at the Banwy and the Welsh Dee.

There are some very nice trout in the Banwy with a few grayling and on the Dee I would say that Bryn Selwyrn is probably the best beat for trout and grayling with beautiful scenery and fairly easy wading. Erbistock and Dee Lodge are also worth a look. The grayling fishing on the Welsh Dee is amongst the best in Europe but there are also plenty of trout although the average size is a little smaller.

Most of the club's water in Wales is for sea trout and salmon with brown trout a poor third.

If you are thinking of South Wales then the Teifi is a very good trout river and of course there are sea trout there as well.

I had been spared to see another spring, and I thank God for it.”
