Today I fished the Don with Woz. It's our second trip to the river, the first, for me, having been fruitless.
Today I cracked it! Not one but two Ladies of the Stream.
The reason for our success was that we were using a method of short lining which Woz had neen taught by John Tyzak on the Welsh Dee, using a long braided leader and a tricolour indicator.
This proved to be a very sensitive set up which gave me a first.
Another first was that I fell in much to Woz's amusement.
I think Woz ended up with four, including a cracking fish of one and a half pounds and the smallest grayling ever of about two and a half inches!
