Default Swale @ Catterick & Leeming?

Hi All,

At work I/We (RAF Leeming) have a stretch of the Swale running through our camp, however I personally Have never fished it as the Course Lads sometimes use it for a match or 3 during the year.

Has anyone fished the Swale around the prevailing area, I know the A1 crosses the Swale around the Cartterick Junction, or thereabouts.

Does anyone have any tips for the Swale as I may fish the strectch behind work sometime in the coming future?

Also, who controls the Swale where it passes under the A1.

Any info appreciated...
Cheers GC

About 1 mile of the Swale above the A1 at Catterick is owned by Thornaby AC - no day tickets. Below the motorway bridge and about 1/2 mile downstream on the south bank is owned by the Bridge House Hotel hotel. Day tickets used to be £5. The north bank is owned by a Darlington club (Darlington Brown Trout?). Below their stretch, for about 1 1/2 miles on the south bank down to Swale Lane is owned by Leeds ASA - day tickets about £5 from the newsagents in Catterick Village. Fishing is mixed, but for flyfishing there are trout and grayling. Some nice grayling, especially below the bridge.

Richmond AC have a good stretch above the A1 bridge which I can recommend. A day ticket is about £5, but a season ticket is only about £25. These are available from the tackle shop in Richmond. They also have a stretch at Great Langton that has a few trout, but is excellent for Grayling. In fact I think this may be adjecent to the RAF stretch, which I have heard about but not seen. If you want I'll meet you on the Swale and show you around the Richmond beat; just drop me a PM if you are interested.
