Default River Wye near Rhayader ??

In the upper Wye valley near Rhayader next weeked and looking for some river trout fishing. I have fished a few of the tribs before (Ithon, Irfon, Edw) and generally had a good time. Now I am thinking of having a go at the main river itself, either on the Rhayader AA beat or on one of the Wye and Usk Foundation booking office beats above Builth.

Any advice or recommendations gratefully received. In particular, how does the fishing on the main river compare to the tribs ?.

Thanks in advance,

wjd

Fished on the Rhadayer waters a couple of weeks ago, specifically the Elan and the Wye.

Had better luck on the Elan area than on the main Wye. The river above Rhadayer was nice to walk thru but didn't see a rise or any sign of fish at all and gave up after an hour or so but this maybe due to my lack of perseverance than any true lack of fish. Certainly looks like good habitat.

Lovely area

Thanks for the advice. Upper Wye was low and clear and looked difficult. Fished Elan River for a few hours on the Friday afternoon (8th) and caught two good grayling (17", 18") from one of the deep pools.
