Default River Irfon

Could anyone tell me how the Irfon is fishing at the moment? Got a day off work tomorrow and after a weeks solid DIY at home, I think I deserve a good days fishing.

Hasn't really got to be the Irfon, anywhere in the area fishing well will be taken into account.

Cheers,
Daniel

The Irfon is not the greatest trout fishing in the world Daniel. Check out the WUF website, phone up Seth at the foundation and take his advice.

My recent experience of the Irfon is consistent with tigermoth. I fished it once in good conditions last May. Managed a sinlge 10" trout. The manager of the beat was moaning about the quality of the trout fishing in recent years. Lots of good grayling about though.

I have fished the Ithon at Llandrindod Wells twice in the past few years and had good cathes of trout and grayling. Fished the Edw about a week ago and caught a load of trout, with about 10 between 7" and 11".

Cheers,

wjd

One of the very best of the WUF waters is the little Llynfi Dulas. It is chock full of trout. You'll need nothing longer than a 7ftr though.

Default help and advice

I'm off to fish the Irfon and Wye this weekend at Builth Wells.

Having never seen the river before, I'd be most grateful if anyone could give me a few pointers and or tips !!

Has anyone fished there recently ??

thanks

Dan

I imagine the Irfon will be very low. I'd be inclined to fish the Wye. What beats have you got booked?

not sure

I think the plan is to fish a day ticket stretch in or near the town . I'm going with a couple of other guys who are localish and they're sorting out the beats .

I guess this is where my enquirey crash's and burns !!!!!!!

Heh heh. If the sun shines, you should see some action on dries.
A few olive patterns and sparkle griffiths gnats will do you. Nymphs - usual suspects, GRHE, PTNs. Pop in to Rods N Reels and have a chat with Bill Price.
