Default River Fishing Near MOFFAT

Hi folks,i am going down to Moffat for 5 days and was wondering if anybody has any info on rivers or lochs to fish in the area (brownies etc),trying to get my first ever river brownie this year !!!

I will be giving Moffat fishery a go , but wouldn't mind a bit of river fishing or a couple of casts on a loch while down that way.

What flies etc ?

Thanks in advance !!!

Cheers

Davie

Hi Davie,

If you're down that way, then give the river Annan a try. I've had good trout & huge grayling out of it this year. The upper beats around Moffat can be very hard work as the water is, in general quite shallow, but you'd be suprised what feeds in 18" of water on a quiet stretch of river on an overcast day!! See www.fishannan.co.uk or google Annan district fisheries board and contact a chap called Nick Chisholm (tell him Ben sent you), he's the river manager and will point you in the right direction for the prevailling conditions.

Cheers

Ben
