Default Lost net Colne at fairford

Lost my wooden Scierra net on the Colne at Fairford, Wednesday 10/11/10. It must have fallen in the river whilst I was wading. I know it's a long shot but if anyone found/finds it I would appreciate a pm-bought for me by the kids last birthday .

Trying to find a replacement at the mo before 'they' find out. It was the standard size-not the large, can't find one anywhere...if anyone has any ideas.

Chris

I sympathise with you Chris, I stepped off the bank to cross the Monnow below Tregate Bridge at last light into what I thought was knee deep water only to find it was waist deep, lost my footing and suddenly found myself with the very refreshing Monnow flowing over my shoulders.

That was all relatively OK as it was a warm June evening but when I made the far bank I realised that I'd lost the lovely Farlows hickory and brass "Gye" style landing net that my Mum had bought me for my 50th birthday shortly before she died - it's the only antique tackle that I use.

I looked for it in vain until it was completely dark, I went back the next day with a grappling hook and trawled the bottom in that pool and the next three or four downstream to no avail and eventually had to give up. Fortunately I was able to claim on the insurance and managed to get an identical net from Neil Freeman's auction which I now look after very carefully.

There is a blackbird on every thorn and a cock chaffinch, a twink as they call him there, on every bush...... It moved me profoundly. I had been spared to see another spring, and I thank God for it.”
