Hi,

A friend of mine has invited me to fish the WUF B34, new beat : The Leen!

We are aiming for about the second week in November. Would anyone have any information or help on this stretch of water; and possible methods used for the pursuit of those lovely ladies (Grayling) has anyone fished this new wuf beat? any advise would be appreciated!

Not that beat Mostyn but I fished the Lugg with the WUF last december and it was brilliant - let us know how you get on.

problem with the tributaries in november is that there will probably be spawning fish there and wading should be avoided unless you wish to commit an offence check out section 2 here

Don'r agree I'm afraid. The key wording is "wilfully disturbs". Wading in itself is not wilfully disturbing anything. To commit an offence it seems to me that you need to enter the river intending to disturb spawning fish or spawning areas.

Whether it is morally right or not is, of course, a separate issue.

The point is if the disturbance is intentional or not. The important part of the law also states ..any spawn or spawning fish may be may be being the important thing.
If I said to you .. don't wade there, there may be spawning fish.. and after my warning you continue ..then the law would see this as wilful

the same of course could be applied to canoeists, who, if they were warned by signs would be committing an offence. The interesting point would be if the people who were encouraging the law to be broken by erecting signs to canoe and selling tickets to fish and wade are actually encouraging people to break the law for their own gain, as they are custodians of the river one would expect them to be aware of the areas where and when fish spawning takes place and to warn people accordingly.

How old are you? your experience and knowledge of all things seems vast!

Bet you could teach Granny to such eggs! Care while fishing is always uppermost in my mind, for self preservation and for conservation and care of the fish, after all it's important to consider their sustainability for the future!

The grayling proved generally elusive and in the section below the bridge, I found only one.

Not a grayling rose all day.

I did however find a few more grayling above the bridge where I found four fish, czech nymphing. Two 13" fish of about a pound and a superb fish of 18-19" of exactly 2 pounds.
