Maybe I have caught some good fish from the river..... I have

Maybe I don't feel the need to tell the WWW what I have caught and where I caught it

Maybe I'll be able to fish there again in peace if I keep my trap shut.

Maybe I'm older and wiser than some, or maybe just wiser

Dont stop putting photographs up, i love 'em as do most folk.

Its just the specific locations i am not comfortable with. Hell say the Clyde or Earn, Tweed or whatever they are big rivers. Most folk know where i do most of my fishing it aint a secret, likewise many posters show photographs and it does not take a rocket scientist to work out where they come from but they are general locations.

This board is viewed by many folk that dont use it for the same purposes as we do, that i have to say is learned through bitter experience.

Its happened before, a wee loch or specific stream has been mentioned and before you know it the Bucky brigade are there, camp fires, empty beer cans and every fish in the place pulled out and chapped regardless of size.

These are wild fish and cannot be replaced.

Swap locations or reports by PM, invite someone down if they show an interest. I know lots of forum members that will take you to a cracking bit of their home water but beware what you publish for all to see.

just to add to what buzz has said, the challenge is finding the fish for yourself, using good ol' watercraft. Im doubtful there are many places you won't catch on the clyde.

Default re catch and publicise

Access to quality wild river trout and grayling fishing in Scotland is absolutely sensational. But it puts a much higher onus of care on anglers themselves to preserve it. It also creates certain Alaskan combat fishing scenarios when every body descends on the same hotspots. These usually don't last long as hammered fish get wise or move on. I've never been a brilliant caster so I've always concentrated in finding spots that are lightly fished. The general rule is that the further you get from the nearest vehicular access the better. Over the course of a season this can pay big dividends. To quote a Thomas Hardy classic try "Far From the Madding Crowd". As far as introducing newbies/youngsters to the sport, I'm so keen for my boy to fish that I'll be getting a pal with a wetsuit to stick one on his hook if need be. But there are also a couple of spots on high access rivers that I have gleaned from decades of yomping along rivers that I'll only be divulging to him... on my death bed. Only joking, anyway the cormorants have moved in on one of them already. Honest, the black widow is for catapulting bait, officer.

I learned from hard experience that when you catch you should be circumspect with the information, by all means share it, with like minded individuals but not the WWW. Post the pics but protect the fish from a complete onslaught.

everybody has the same right to fish but I recall seeing 5 dead 2lb grayling last year from the clyde. I tried grayling once and decided never again it was like eating a bucket of Sh**.

Pictures and a wee bit of script but nae locations or chapter and verse. Are you mad.

Default not about onslaghts

i dont believe fishmongers spend much time on these sites because you catch half dozen or so fish and one big stoater dosent mean the fishing fraternity will camp out what it definatley achives is a few more rods on the water i have met some colourful fisher men and women on my travels on the clyde and the avon making good friends is healthy for the best past time in my opinion fishing again i state there was 20+ rods above the kinkell bridge last saturday the banter was legendary akin to the fishing i hope we see more fotteees and stories like hopper has done get out fish and tell the story what fishing be without this formula
