Default Day ticket fishing: Derwent River

Hi

Can anyone point me in the direction of any day ticket fishing on the Derwent River near either Matlock Bath, Cromford, Whatstandwell or Ambergate?

What is the general quality of the fishing like at these places?

Many thanks.

The Derwent hotel at Whatstandwell sell day tickets for a 1/4 mile stretch of the Derwent. I have not fished here but have fished a little way upstream. If you catch it right the fishing can be very good. Here's the link:-

Thanks for the reply. I found this description from a visitor to this section in 2006:

"It's not quite as wonderful when you get there but could still be worthwhile at £3. The stretch is catch and release and only about 1/4 mile long, weir at one end A6 road bridge at the other. Reasonably easy to get into the water but most of if it is deep and about 20 yards wide. It is shallow by the bridge and I could see some fish rising. In most areas roll casting is a pre-requisite. Part of the weir pool could be fished from the bank albeit a bit like sea fishing off the rocks."

The banks are free of vegetation where you can get down but a bit steep and slippery. The water could be seen to be clear near the bridge which is quite surprising given the recent rain."

I may take a trip up and give it a go sometime.
