wild garlic ,when they are just starting to show the roots make an excellent substitute for spring onions

and finally the only fish of the day on dry fly,not what i wanted but had to get a pic of my first river cover fish luckily it spat the fly into the bottom of the net...




i am certainly looking forward to going back after seeing the quality of fish available, one word of caution if you can call it caution is that whilst i was there sunday you do get a lot of hikers walking the path which follows the rivers path,however the footpath doesnt always run beside the river but some of the first pools are prone to spooking as its right next to the path, maybe better fished midweek who knows ,once your at the stepping stones from there onwards i didnt catch sight of anyone walking as the path goes away from the river.
