Mark I have fished the Tummel and its a great water with some excellent pools etc. Best to have a look at this web site for all the information you need. Good luck.

Was fishing it on the Sunday just passed. Water was high at that time and the fishing wasnt easy, with good fly water scarce, but the stretch of water that runs underneath and either side of the A9 bridge is well worth a look.

Each day at noon there was a reasonable march brown hatch, but dont expect a feeding frenzy. The hatch was quite drawn out, with several small hatchs in the one, if that makes sense. Get some size 12 march dun patterns for the hatch, and then some larger patterns for the rest of the day (something like a large deerhair kind of thing) to just prospect around the more shallow riffles if the water is still up. During the hatch they seemed more responsive to the smaller, more accurate size.

Hope that helps,

Was on the Tummel today, 3 of us with a fish each. LDOs, March browns and spiders worked. Small olive/march broon hatch which lasted all of ten minutes started around midday. My mate was speaking to a salmon angler who was fishing yesterday also, he said that there was a massive olive hatch which lasted ages with loads of big troot showing!

might have changed but i think you can join the pitlochry angling association for the cost of a couple of days fishing, a few visits makes it worth it.
