Default How do you WEIGH?

Ok, as an avid C&R fisherman how would you weigh a grayling or a trout from a river that was intended to be returned?

Normally I don't even take them from the water. For trout up to about 2 lbs I would think I would get them pretty close anyway. I used to keep a big carrier bag in case of something extra special but don't bother any longer. I have my rod marked every two inches to give me a rough idea of length.

Weigh it in the net - then weigh the wet net and subtract.

Default Measure them

Just measure the length tip to tale, the weight doesn't matter to me with trout and grayling. Mark your landing net or carry a small tailors tape and this will do nicely, or you can by nets with tape measure already marked on them.

Or if you join in the Grayling Society log book scheme, a tape that sticks to your rod comes free

I have marks (Tippex) on my rod 12 and 14 inches from the handle.
These can be eyeballed to give an approximation of fish length without having to hold the fish next to the rod. I never weigh live fish.

Thats a good idea David, is the tippex waterproof and can it be removed without damaging the rod finish?
