Default Loch Awe?

Hi

I have fished Awe twice I think and got f*ck awe! But my ol' Father insists we try again, one last time tomorrow. No Loch Earn, no Kelvin, but Awe!

Anyway, I have never fly fished it and I plan on it this time, anyone any tips on where on the loch/rivers and which flies? Baring in mind tomorrow is to be a decent day so I guess that'll be okay for the last day of the season.

Their website says use wet flies so should I use a sinking line also?

Thanks guys (and galls)

Is Loch Awe not better at the beginning of the season, IE an early water.

Loch Awe is better early season I'd say. I've only ever boat fished so not sure what the bank is like.

Loch Earn will fish well right up untill the 6th. Two years ago I had a 7lb 13oz brownie on fly on the last day of the season. Was out the other day and we got into a fair few fish despite **** conditions.

Mind you it could be busy.

It is a far better fishery early in the season march/april/early may then it usually goes of the boil . In the last few years it has been a good end to the season but this year its been bad .. I am just back from loch awe tonight , me and the brother in law gave it a bash from the bank all day , only 3 fish for our efforts a nice brown about 2lb and 2 rainbows about 1lb , considering its late in the season the brown was in lovely condition , it hammered my comorant on the point , after a great wee fight it was released to fight another day .

p.s 2 people i know who fish the bank nearly every other week were catching some big perch they had about a dozen to 3lb

try it early next season ...!!!

I cant say I understand how a loch can be **** at the end of the season, surely the fish still eat :S ? I know the weather changes but surely if you know what to do if that happens you should be okay... Excuse how stupid I may sound, I have been fishing for years but just recently taking a huge interest in this.
