Default Help, stolen boats.

Hi Lads,

There was three 15ft. Lomond boats stolen from Loch Doon, East Ayrshire, between the hours of 5.30pm on Saturday the 12th. July, and 7.30am, Sunday the 13th. July. These boats are grey in colour, and were made by Sweeney the boat builders.

I appeal to any members on the forum, , who may be offered a boat or boats, from someone who is not exactly "kosher" to please contact their local police immediately/ or myself through this forum. I would also ask that all members of flyfishing clubs, particularly those with boats on lochs, to be extra vigilant, because these thieves must be pretty well organised to steal three boats in such a short time. A fortnight ago, there was a boat shed broken into, and several outboards stolen, Yamahas I believe they were. This happened very near to Loch Doon as well. There was also a canoe stolen, valued at £800.00, this was stolen from campers on the loch side.

Thank you for your time,
Sam

Sam,

Will keep an ear to the ground as I'm sure many will. Unfortunately some folk might not read this and find an unbelievable bargain too good to resist.

In the current climate thefts are going to increase and everyone should take as many precautions as they can. We had a mini excavator stolen a couple of weeks ago and the fact that some folk are prepared to steal oil, petrol and diesel as shown in the preventing thefts to domestic oil tanks thread in viewpoint illustrates that theft's on easy target's are an unwanted sign of the times.

Hope you get your boats back but you might have a long wait.

Donald.

Being an ayrshire lad as well doonicus i will certanaly keep the lug hole to the ground for you and let you know if i hear anything . My father in law used to go up there regular with his camper van at weekends for years and loved it but unfortunatly the last 3 or 4 years it seems to be all the scum of the day that inhabits the place last time i was up it was like a scrap yard.
p.s hope you find the sad b**tards that nicked them

Hi Lads,

We found two of the boats hidden in the woods on the other side of the loch. Obviously planked to be collected later. We also have the no. plates of several vehicles which were in the forestry commissions ground on the far side of the loch, these vehicles had no business being there, so luckily someone thought to take the numbers.

Sorry that your father in law feels that he can no longer enjoy his time up loch Doon, Stevie, and yes, he is right, there are far too many vermin around these days, there has been a lot of theft from caravans, Finlas Fishing Lodge, Balloch Beatties etc. etc.
They even stole the batons off the scaffolding that was on the dam wall! A van was also stolen, moved about 400 yards and then set alight. What drives these dickheads I do not know, but they will be caught, and dealt with. Welcoming party has been arranged for these bast---s, should they wish to come back.

Thank you all very much for keeping your eyes and ears open, much appreciated, and thank you all for the support, and messages.
Sam
