Default Loch Eilt & Loch Shiel

Heading up this way at the weekend for a bit of fly fishing. Can anyone advise whether it's possible to get boats on these lochs and where from?

Are there still Sea trout catches on Loch Eilt and are they a possibility at this time of year or is it too early?

One last thing, can both Lochs be fished on a Sunday? Any help welcome.

Thanks anyway Texxa,

I think you can get boats from the Shiel Hotel but not on a Sunday - was more broonies I was after but will wait and see.

Re. Loch Eilt, I knew it had fallen well from it's former glory but would have been nice to hear from someone with local knowledge.

Thanks again for your help however.

Arkaig is better fished from a boat but there are good bank beats as well.

You can take your own boat on but can't hire.

Lochy is the same but they stopped hiring two years ago unless any one else has more recent info. Don't think you can hire on Quoich anymore either which is a good wild loch.

Hi Stephen, the reason I mentioned Loch Eilt even though I knew the Sea Trout fishing was Fu**** was because when I was up there last year there were big fish moving - could've been pike though.

Would be interesting if anyone knew if it held pike as the GSB's are in a lot of the lochs up that way.

Hi Flyferox,

About 20 years ago I fished the lochs above Roshven and caught some great wild trout, mostly normal lochan fare but did get 3 over 2lbs one memorable evening from the inflow of the main loch. Also caught my first second and third seatrout from the Ailort just below the bridge. Also remember the fish cages in the sealochs which were just starting up. What a shame.
