Default Early season Brown Trout (river Teviot)

Hi,

There is great advice on the forum and have picked up lots of tips and tricks.
This will be my first season back on rivers fishing for brown trout in some years after fishing stillwaters.
Just looking for some advice on early (end of March) season brown trout tactics.

Any help will be great.
Thanks

I'm going to be fishing the Teviot round about them myself and I'll be using the usual spiders and nymphs that I'd fish elsewhere.

Hopefully some of the locals will be able to offer you more specific advice.

Hi GuyFromLaw
I have tied some pheasant tail, hares ear, and some shrimpy type things, thats all so far, what other nymphs would you recommend.

The teviot isn't the best river for brown trout!..If I were you's I'd fish the tweed for brownies you'll get some good hatches of march browns & ldos
end of march early April that should bring the trout up,craig.

On our local Rivers Bann and Lagan in Northern Ireland we will see hatches of large dark olives from opening day March 1st where it is possible to even get a short dryfly session in as well as the customary nymphing and wetfly techniques. Spiders such as bloas, snipe and purple etc will score along with shrimp and baetis patterns.
