Try the northern slopes instead, and perhaps a moorland track to Trawsfynydd.

Correct; the Lliw. Well done Mike.

However it's the Lliw's pretty sister river, the Llafar, that flows directly into the lake.

The little Dee and the Lliw in fact join a few hundred yards above the lake, in the village of Llanuwchllyn. Where the dirtier flowing Twrch, that Tigermoth mentioned has also merged with the infant Dee.

Previously I said our stream holds huge grayling, but a transient population, these run, like sea trout, from Llyn Tegid; a March spate is required to bring them in. Ditto for the Llafar and Twrch. A Bala and District ticket will cover most of these streams.
