Re: River Aherlow Ireland?
Used to fish around there some years ago - the Aherlow has lots of small browns, a 0.75 pounder is a fish to remember. Fly life not great, it's a river with a low p/h and thus fairly acid. Small black dries work well in summer. Around Galbally is good. The fishing is free, though check with landowners first.
The Goul is better, bigger fish, deeper, faster flow. Some nice trout in the Nore if you fancy a bigger river. All Club water, you can get a day ticket from the grocery shop beside the pub in the Square in Durrow
