I went back down the Annan on Saturday with the intention of exploring further than on my last time. But I started at a spot I knew and managed to hook and land my new personal best Grayling of 3lb 4ozs. It took me 40 metres down stream and I ended up half falling in trying to get it in the net. But I didn't care!
Unfortunatley I totally screwed up with my head cam and only have the briefest of glimpses of this huge fish- so I feel a bit of a muppet after all that- no decent pic.
A couple of guys apparently from this board appeared as I was back at the car drying off and I showed them where to fish as I am sure there would be more there but I decided I wanted to move downstream. It was a cold day but good fun. If you want to see th epics etc of my fight with the grayling its all here:
Clutching Despair from the Jaws of Success! | the unfamous fly
If the guys I spoke to are about here- hope you had some success with those flies- they have been brilliant for me.
I had a couple more later in the day- one came off and I landed the other both fairly small but good fun.
