Re: streamers for grayling
What type of river and where?
I'd persist with nymphs for grayling, rather than wets and never streamers. For grayling on most UK river, try getting to grips with short lining or Czech nymphing, where the secret is often about having heavy enough flies to get down quickly and keeping in touch with the flies. Searching the water is necessary, searching both laterally around the swim and vertically in the water column.
As a secondary method, on grayling rivers like the Welsh Dee, I'd go for small dry flies fished under overhanging trees and amongst the leaves on the water.
