Default Re: New season

I suspect you mean 3rd March for the start of the WBT season in Wales.

For the first time in years I will be away from the Monnow system on 3rd March but I would normally start my season on the upper Monnow, Olchon or Escley near Longtown where there are 4 beats excellent beats within 2 minutes walk of the very welcoming Crown Inn at Longtown, a great place to warm up and enjoy a pie and a pint.
Fishing the Monnow A reminder of what i is usually like, if you are lucky!

Round here the new season starts on the 25th March... I am usually to be found on the local beck but will have to see what the weather brings...

Lough Corrib opens on 15th February but my appearance there will depend on the weather between now and then. My bones are getting too old to be bounced about and frozen stiff in an open boat in a northerly gale.

Otherwise, rivers in N Ireland open on March 1st and I'll definitely be out somewhere - Bush, Maine, Lagan, Bann or Colebrooke

As Rob, (Cranefly) said 3rd of March is the begining of the WBT season in Wales!
Although I don't really go out during the first couple of weeks; and even later on if the weather is deemed unsuitable? The Nature of the seasons seem to be moving in a forward direction - Just My Opinion from observing the natural changes over the years. I'd like to see the season here in Wales start Mid-April and extend to it's end during Mid-October. JMO and there will be many who disagree, some if only for the sake of disagreement.

But I'm certainly looking forward to being on my beloved little trout stream again. Just basking in one's own solitude, with only Mother Nature and the presance her eternal offspring for company.
