I recently travelled up from Norfolk for 3 days fishing on the Teviot. Glorious place but we found the fishing quite hard going because of the cold weather we hit. So my advice would be to pick a nice day or wrap up well! You've definately picked a lovely place to live!
Regards, Ben.

Maybe a bit of 'in at the deep end', but Jedburgh rotary club have a Grayling comp on the Teviot this coming Saturday - good place/environmernt to start?.

Junior DF and I will be there, not because we are keen comp anglers (we aren't at all!!) but hope to learn loads.

Hi all,

The Teviot is not the river it once was but there is still a few beauties in there. I'm fishing the comp next saturday and as i've heard it's not taken too seriously at all, so if your new to Grayling fishing get yourselves there.

I still expect quie a few blanks all depending where you draw!!!. I've only fished the Teviot around Hawick & Denholm.

Kelso Angling Association offer a Grayling Ticket from 1st December to 31st January which is worth trying. Hawick Angling Club offer Grayling fishing at £5 per day and season tickets for £60 which includes Loch and River fishing and is the largest angling club in the borders.
There is Tyneside Angling Syndicate and Felling FlyFishing Club both of which have Grayling fishing on river slightly further afield.

I was hoping to fish the Teviot yesterday on my last day off. Checked river levels on the night before and the reading was high but not impossible, checked 06:00 tuesday morning and it was a no go area as for every other river within 2hours drive.

The river is now dropping and i've since checked the weather forecast, due some rain today but then clear with some sunny spells till sunday. Hopefuuly this is good news for the Grayling competition for those who are attending

Hi Chris,

check the river levels on the Fishtweed website. Ideally it needs to be lower than 2 feet at Hawick- Best level around a foot to a foot and a half above Summer level.

See you at the comp if conditions are OK.

Regards Jon

I fished the Tweed little last season, and there are good Grayling to be had but you need to cover a lot of water and find the spots. Last season probably wasn't the best time to gauge it by as I think it was hard everywhere. I only had one Grayling in 4 outings, but it was a biggie. I fished the Peebleshire Trout Fishing association waters. Its good value- last year it was something like £25 from 1st Jan to end of September covering trout and Grayling.
I was aware of anglers who got a few on an outing same areas I was in and heard of someone getting 17 on one outing on stretch I fish.
WIll probably give it a go this year too if this rain ever stops.
Like all Grayling fishing - first find some fish! I covered miles!
I hope to fish the Teviot this Saturday inthe comp if its on - rain might be an issue.
A wee bit further afield you have the Clyde and the Annan. Fished both this year with success.
Good luck
