Default Grayling fishing in Cheltenham?

Seems I'm off to Cheltenham this morning for a couple of days with the outlaws and I'm itching to get fishing.
Any grayling fishing which is easily accessable in the town there? Don't mind how bad, just need to stand in a river waving a stick for a while to feel himan again!

Bri

I fished the Colne last month at Fairford. No bloody water in it, had two small out of season brownies and not a sniff of grayling. Other beats may be better.

Steve, I agree. The Coln in Fairford has a serious lack of water, despite recent rain in the area, but I would imagine the whole catchment is suffering the same. There has been a marked increase in flow in the past week, but levels are still very low.

FlyBri, the Coln would be your closest bet on some grayling fishing, and the lower reaches of the Bull Hotel stretch in Fairford has a number of deep pockets which are holding grayling.

The Coln at Coln St Aldwyns.
Fished it 2 day ago and had a few nice grayling.
PM me for other options.

Cheers

Andy

That's intersting Andy, I'd been toying with the idea of giving it a go. Always difficult to tear myself away from the Test etc on my doorstep but I like to fish different rivers. I'll make a trip.

Regards
Peter

It's not the carpet of fish that you get on some stretches of the southern chalk streams but worth a go if you fancy fishing somewhere different.
The grayling don't seem to have started to shoal up yet so it's a case of searching all the river but the trout have done their normal disappearing act this time of year.

Cheers

Andy

You can buy a day ticket for £25 from DJ Sports in Cirencester (01285 652227).
Alternatively you can buy from me at the Fishing Breaks price!! (I'm joking of course...)

Cheers

Andy
