Default Centre pin reel for Grayling.

I'm thinking of getting a centre pin reel to do a spot of trotting for grayling as well as some barbel.

Can anyone recommend a decent pin for around £100, ideally I'd love a conquest but this sits outside of my price range.

So over to you folks to put me on the right line, no pun intended.

Cheers

Simon

Funny you mention Okuma as I was looking at the Sheffield & Aventa pins

Cheers

have a look at the TFG in Tackle discounts. Suppose to retail at £239. selling at £49.99. I did get one and it does seem okay for the £49.99.

I've seen those on ebay too, does it pull the line off easily enough?

The £239 RRP was just a made up figure.like many Airflo RRP's.I have no knowledge of it,but at £50 it is probably worth a punt.

I'm still being swayed toward the Aventa or Sheffield.

Smile Re: Centre pin reel for Grayling.

Hi Si, your thread is making me so need to get out centrepining (if that word exists?) I grew up mainly coarse fishing so have seen numerous CP reviews over time. Okuma get good reviews and are good reliable reels as does the TFG although went it originally came out it seemed to highly priced. originally think they were around £150? I have got a few makes and love my youngs (got it like new including cert, box warranty etc for £130 of e-bay). Might be worth watching a few? you can pick up some older classic reels also on the bay and £100 should get you a nice pin. The pin made by dragon tackle sold like hot cakes and got very good reviews (£40 presently including guard) which is worth considering?
anyway not sure i'm being a help here
If you goiong to be looking to use for barbel you might look to get a slightly bigger dianmeter or at least some sort of drag system?
hope that helps in some way? try before you buy is always a good policy but not always possible.
thanks jon

I would get an Okuma or 2nd hand Youngs, I've a couple of friends that tried the cheaper pins, both now own Sheffields, and are very happy with them.
