Default advise on line please

Can anyone advise me, I have been fishing a floating line on a shallow - 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 foot small river which is a bit fast flowing in places and the last 3ft of my fly line is sinking so i have to shorten my leader so i dont snag the bottom and i think this may spook the fish, This dont happen on stillwaters, I dont know what the line is as it was on the reel when bought but it casts lovely and lays bang straight on the water so i dont think its a really cheap line.

Water is getting up your core at the tip or maybe in through a crack possibbly at the braided loop joint. Let the line dry out and then renew braided loop after cutting back to before crack. Use a wee bit super glue and varnish to seal the tip to stop water getting up it. Gink your braided loop before you start fishing.

Just likely possibilities.

Probably the effect of the current of water as well. Are you fishing down and across?

I fish upstream, across and down and it seems to happen all ways but never on stillwater so i think you maybe right about current and also the turbulent parts.

Once the waters in...you sure it didn't start to sink on your last trip?

Also, are you fishing weighted patterns on the river and the drag is doing it.....more info required.

I fish both weighted and unweighted it has happened from the first time i used itand have since fished stillwaters and its ok, The river gan be a bit rough in places and it dosent happen much really in the very calm parts. I will put a new loop on and dry it out see what happens thanks for your advise.

If the line isn't taking on water and isn't travelling at the natural pace of the current then you have your answer.
