Default French/czech leader/indicator system

Some one enquired a while ago about use of beaded leader.

Been playing with a few variations, found the best to be one of Frank Williams' long french leaders with one of Rover's beaded leader for easy sighting, or a shorter tapered leader with one of Rover's for czeching, with 3-4 ft fine tippet depending on water depth.

Works for me....Franks leaders work, and Rover's leader is very visible.
(not an ad, by the way....)

Hope it helps, Peter

If you want to nymph with a shorter line (czech style) just reel in some of Frank's leader, no need to switch to a shorter tapered leader!

Yup completely agree buddy. Sod taking yet another rod with me incase I want to fish Czech instead of French.

The French leader is massively versatile, Nick will confirm they can even be used without an indicator casting to sighted fish.

Hi Frank

I'll be using one of your leaders - the ones with the built in indicator - on the Ure next Sunday with Robert & Co! I too use it for czech nymphing in the manner described. Having lost the tippet end to Bolton Abbey boulders last weekend, I will fasten on more tippet. Can you recommend me how far off the water you would hold the indicator section, or would you hold it on the water? that helps me work out how much tippet to add.

Ta

Stuart

Tim, I will put up a picture as soon as I get my camera back, I left it at a friends last week .
They are made of bi-colour mono half orange half yellow: the orange half has yellow blobs and and the yellow half had orange blobs. They are approx. 35-40 cm long and finished with a perfection loop at each end.

They are £5.00 posted Please Pm me if you are interested

Managed to get a picture of them on my Phone

Stuart, I normally have about 10 -15 cm of .18 diameter tippet after the indicator finished with a perfection loop. I then add my tippet, When fish I normally have the indicator between 0 and 10 cm above the surface where possible. Hope this helps.
