Default Silver Hills Fishery, Alva, Clackmannanshire

Hi all

Do any trout anglers in Clackmannanshire/Stirling area know anything about this place? It's fairly new and I understand there are a lot of exotics in it - blue, tiger etc, as well as rainbow (I think?). I believe it's open all year round and seen as the pain of my first closed season is now growing i'd like to have a go there!

The only thing I can find online is links to planning applications, but what I really need is a telephone number so I can call them and check out the setup/prices etc. They dont seem to advertise (yet) though im told one of the local papers had a bit on the place a while back?

All help appreciated folks

Cheers

Les

There used to be a very small fishery between alva and Tillicoultry just as you left the village on right that was over 10 yrs ago wasn't very popular as I remember .

Hi Pete

I vaguely remember the old place you mentioned (and its lack of popularity although I wasnt an angler then), but a new development was definitely granted planning permission there fairly recently (mid-late summer) and the paper piece was about its recent opening so I do believe we have a new all-season venue in the Wee County! Just need to find out more about it

Cheers

Oh and if you want to find it yourself, it's at Kersiepow farm and actually on a bend of the River Devon - you access it (if coming from Alva) on the right, about half-a-mile out of the town.

hi All,

This venue I think is now called Harviestoun Fishery, very friendly staff, blues and rainbows.

I have fished it a couple of times, just thinking of going again this afternoon, four hour session £17.00 3 Fish, good strong fish bagged out first session 3 fish 6.75 lbs (blues) second session blanked had four on but all decided they wanted to stay a bit longer ..... thats why its called fishing and not catching

I can recommend it. ( I have no connection with the fishery, other than the £34.00 paid to support it..... so far)

It is indeed called Harvieston Fishery run by a chap called Dougie Cullens I believe. Been there a couple of times now both for a quick 2 hour shot and got 2 first time (1 blue, 1 rainbow) both about 2lb mark. Blanked on 2nd trip though. They were taking small black buzzers the first time but must have changed there minds on my next visit! Dougie said he'd put some large browns in around the 5/6/7lb mark. On my first visit I think I hooked into one and it snapped my leader .

They were going to wait until next year to open but have decided to get up and running early. Still in the process of tidying things up but it a good place and staff are friendly. £13 for 2hrs - 2fish, £17 for 4hrs - 3 fish.

Fair bit of weed in the water due to it being neglected for a few years by the previous owners but I'm sure they'll get it sorted.

Good hard fighting fish and worth a visit. nice and local for me!!

Don't have a phone number for you but it's open 7 days from 8am till dusk.
