I dont think it is turning up the quality of grayling it used to.
I also dont think there is any sunday fishing and all grayling are catch and release.

Tight lines!

I think you will find the Teviot is different from the Tweed when it comes to Grayling season. If I remember correctly the Tweed is January to March.

Jed forrest area im sure is the end of october! not fished it for a while but 99% sure, my fav stretch was the nesbit beat and its full of big grayling, had more than my share of 3lb + fish on the trotting gear and fly from that stretch but its hard getting a ticket for it, used to get them from the cottage at ploughlands farm but they moved into kelso somewhere.

Jed forrest bit can be a pain though, if your fishing and a salmon angler wants in you have to move, and it can be really busy with salmon anglers just now.

If your after an easy day for catching grayling then don't go. There is still one or two good fish in there but it's not what it once was i'm affraid... Unless your a top angler, i'd be tempted to hit the clyde not that i've fished the clyde before but it's having a good season so i hear.

The goosanders, mergansers et al have decimated the grayling and trout on the Tweed system.

Hi I fished the Teviot on Friday- The Jedforest stretch remains open for Grayling all year. Ticket available from Shaws Newsagents at Cannongate in Jedburgh for £7. However as stated by others it is far from what it used to be. I fished with Frank Williams a guide and am no mug with Grayling myself. We fished very hard all day for one fish a piece. It used to hold a good head of large Grayling but these have died and cormorant predation of small fish that would have replaced them is rife and uncontrolled. There are still decent populations downstream on the Kelso stretch and upstream on the Hawick water but these are closed at the moment.

This grayling was from the Jedforest water.

Regards Jon.
