Better? The Dee is a wonderful grayling river and in the past I've had some very good fish from Maelor and the Corwen beats.

Last Saturday I fished the Bala and District beat at LLandderfel, day ticket £7.50 available from the Bryntirion Inn (after 9am) just over the bridge and up the hill. I fished from around 10.30am until 1.30pm and had 10 fish, best around 1lb 8oz / 12oz.

Lovely fishing, the fish were clearly still in the streamier runs, after a few sharp frosts they will shoal up in the slower, deeper spots.

As Lighthouse suggests, both are good, if anything Corwen may be better but on both beats you'll find the salmon anglers out in force for the last weekend. My only criticism of Maelor is that the grayling can be a little hammered but you should be OK at this stage of the season.
