Default Autumn can help Next Summer

I thought some of you might enjoy making floating leaves helpful instead of just a nuisance.

Those long lines of drifting leaves can teach us a lesson as explained in here.

How would you tell where the "tail" of the feedlane ended and the flow began its influence on the leaves? Or would you just pick a "sensible" distance downstream and ensure you fished around the leaves? New to rivers so i found this helpful, thanks!

The leaves showed how far down river the influence of the little promontory up above the trailing dead stalks actually extends. It turned out to be much further than I had previously realised. The lesson it taught me is next summer I will begin my approach right down there at the bottom of where the line of leaves reached this autumn. In autumn all you can do is work your way through the leaves if that is where the fish are. The nuisance they present in autumn is compensated for by the way they have illustrated the possibilities next season. It just gives an idea of where it might be better to sit and watch for a while before beginning to fish the pool. First to catch the fish in the lower end of this feedlane then move up a little to fish further up, where I used to start. It will all be put to the test sometime next season...
