Default Bourn Brook, Bournville: Any Trout?

I recently visited Cadbury World at the Cadbury's factory in Bournville. The path from the train station, past the factory to Cadbury World takes you over a little stream signposted "Bourn Brook Trout Stream". It was about 6 to 8 feet wide and appeared clear(ish) and slow moving. I observed the river for about a minute without seeing any fish, movement or rises.

The Cadbury's website says "On June 18th 1879 an ideal site was found for the new factory: 14.5 acres of land between the villages of Stirchley, Kings Norton and Selly Oak, about 4 miles south of central Birmingham. The site was a meadow with a cottage and a trout stream - the Bourn."

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this little stream and whether any trout remain to this day? I understand the Bourn may be a tributary of the River Rea in which I've previously heard talk of brown trout being present.

Justin, you will have to try it out next season, you never know there may be a few trout in there!

Hi Spencer, I will. It would be nice to have some 'intel' from someone who may know something about it before next season though!

As clean as you will see in a city! The factory has dammed the river, perhaps using the water to cool machinery or something like that. So immediately upstream of the factory, the little of it I could see, the river seems deeper and slower than it should be. I'm not sure what its natural size or state is like, whether it has a gravel or silt bottom, etc.

With the dam/artificial pond at the factory I doubt there is much freedom of movement for fish between the Rea (where I have heard trout exist) and the Bourn above Cadbury's (if brown trout indeed move around).
