Default Subtle indicators?

Do any of you clever souls know of a small type of indicator I could make for winter Grayling.

The water will be shallow, but I may not always be able to see the fish? I don't want the stick on kind, more a wool ball or something like an egg you would use for fishing with.
How would you attach it (I don't like kinks in line) so how would you work it. It would be nice if it would slid up the line? Hollow fly line I would not see?

Can you buy very tiny indicators, the Orvis ones are all too big for me?

Any thoughts?

How about using a small dry fly, fishing the duo? Something like a klink with hi-viz post, tied on a dropper?

"Dump that Pimp, grab yourself a Nymph-Maniac!"

I doubt it will make me rich, or even turn a profit but it might make a few people happy.

Two quid (£2GBP) posted, roll up, roll up, grab a bargain!

That little bundle of indicators in the picture are sat safely in my under desk filing ready to send to the swappers; they look very good, similar to others available on the market that I've used for czech / french nymphing but a lot cheaper ... another forum bargain.

Spiral indicators are great 'till you've caught one or two, then your one time 3 inch indicator becomes a seven incher. Sharkey's are cheap as chips at two quid and will do the job. For the black markings I think if you wind it round something like a biro refill and black marker half of it lengthwise it should give you perfectly even spacings and save some time

Making your own pole flakes is all the rage for coarse fishermen these days, there are loads of suppliers. You can but a pre drilled balsa or foam body that when turned into a float only takes 0.1g to cock it.

Some come presuppose as small as 0.6mm, these could lock onto a tapered leader, or you could use the tiny rubber float stops if the indicator was down on a tippet.

There are also minuscule little wire loops that glue in the float body to hold the line, perhaps one of these could be tied into a perfection loop for instance if the indicator needed to be a bit looser on the line.

Also these new fangled wine corks are made of a very bouyant closed cell foam, easy to shape with a sharp knife, and paintable.
