Jon, I can't comment on the 10ft's, but I have a Sharpes the Gordon 2 in the 9.6ft and it's a peach IMO.
Nicely made and works a treat for me, and I prefer a more through action. S.

I have recently acquired a 5wt 8'6 Gordon 2 that I use for river fishing and the rod is a delight very light and very well finished and a whole lot more forgiving than the Greys Platinum xd's that i've been using for many years! I have now relised that I have been missing out on much of the pleasure by using too fast and stiff action rods and will now look for a 10ft #7 Gordon 2 for the boat!

I'm in exactly the same boat (ha ha!) as ticklematackle. Looking for a 10' all-round rod for boat and bank. Prefer a more "traditional" action than the broomsticks most makers offer.
I see Sharpes have added a 10' 6-weight to the Gordon 2 range. Worth a look. Also Sonik SK3 and SK4 - there are 10-foot 6-weights. Not sure what the action is like though. |
