Default Zenith Fly Rods - Tried a seven weight

Hi All, I tried the Seven weight today at Ellerdine Lakes. Conditions started OK, a bit overcast then the wind picked up, along with the rain. I have to say, I have already tried these rods from Stevie Parkes in other weights and on a seven but this is an FT blank, Stevie will tell you the difference in blanks.

The rod is described by Steve as fast and true to his word, it is very fast, but also extremely light for a nine footer. The fittings and finish are very good and can be viewed on his site, at zenithflyrods.co.uk

I'm tapping up a review now, so you can see what we did with the rod today. Have a look, it won't cost you anything to check them out, just click on.

Default NIce action

Hi Reidy and R ian, I have to say the Harrison was a slower action compared to the FT rod. I was more impressed with the line speed I could generate with less effort.

To be fair to Stevie, he has built an exceptional rod here. Don't take my word for it. Try one for yourself.

Regards

A picture says a thousand words Smudger.
As posted in the trade classifieds I had the pleasure of testing a 5/6wt 9ft Zenith rod that Steve was kind enough to send up to us to try out.
I tried the rod with a 6wt Rio grand line and it handled it well.
I was fishing a dry fly so I swapped reels for a 5wt Rio grand and i must say the rod performed even better, it put down a lovely straight line without any effort.
I am no casting guru but i can say that the rod casts very well and effortlessly and roll cast lovely i would recommend them to anyone.
The rod is well finished with good quality materials and offers good value for money.
I could have fished all day with this rod but i only had a 2 hour window but i hope to give it another test along side a Sage Z axis before i send it back to Steve.

I used the Zenith Rod tonight and my god can that rod perform , Short , Long and Roll casting are a pleasure. The Action is fast but not stiff at all I tried a Sage preformance taper , Rio Gold and a Cortland 444 and the rod was a pleasure with every line.

I think Zenith have a winner here , Even Tam the Bam liked the rod and we know how fussy he is.

Very Impressed.
