Not the most interesting form of fishing I know, but on there day a single buzzer fished static about a foot down is unbeatable. i find i miss lots of takes and no doubt dont see even more when a fish without one on the drop. Can anyone recomend the best one?
Fine line seems to cause problems with most. Thingamabobbers just slip so easily, egglows just fly off, the cheap manky lureflash foam or solid versions are just that and either fly off or damage line.
The best ones i've found are turn-on strike indicators but after a while result in breaks and lost fish and flies and at £5 for 4 are quite costly.
If this continues I might have to design my own perfect one and make millions!!!

Rob.

Just take a strip of yellow foam, fold it over a hook, whip it on and paint it with Humbrol blaze- you can make them different sizes for flat calm versus wave and one buzzer versus a heavily weighted lure.

Tie this "bung fly" on a very short top dropper and you have an indicator that never slips.

You can clip the hook point off if you are not in a competition.

i agree with charlie on using a bung fly & if you tie flies make a few unsinkables of different patterns ie sedge, daddy longlegs, muddler minnow etc. these can take fish and add a surprise factor to a days fishing. a friend of mine who's eyesight isnt the best in late evening uses some "special" long shank 8 murrough's, believe me when i say these things are huge. yet when the light is gone they occasionally take some impressive fish when retrieved with a slow figure eight with pauses.but mainly if one of the buzzers is taken it registers straight away. anyway either bung fly or high floating sighter will give you what you need and more.

roders you should check out "westcountry's" post on page 4(i think) general forum Bite indicators

Use a small SS ring (1.5mm) to join the leader to your tippet then use Biostrike putty from Loon, if moulded around the SS ring it's a sod to get off and hardly effects your casting.
