Default Goretex Jacket Wading?

Hi there guys was snooping around Debenhams in Doncaster with the other halve and saw in the Craghoppers section a short blousen double front pocketed GORTEX jacket with hood, reduced from £150 to just £60, now that has got to be a bargain, colours I hear you ask? burnt orange and pewter.
Have a look but dont take long as they might be off offer soon.

I got something similar in black - a Columbia Goretex jacket - which I also got in sale for a similar price - makes an excellent wading jacket and a fraction of the price of some fashionable fishing brand names which aren't even Goretex. Has the added plus of being wearable as a general jacket too!

TK Maxx is the same, some good stuff in the outdoor range. I saw a Patagonia soft shell, reduced from £170 to £70 or so. Only in a Medium though. If you can get in at the right time before the Polish and Lithuanian population clean the bargains out...."Yeessss, I like bright orange jacket very much"!!

I think they just say that because its a lightweight packable jacket aimed at summer use, rather than a heavy duty foul weather winter coat. However, Gore-tex paclite is just a version of Gore-tex where they have added another layer and dispensed with a separate nylon lining (like mine has) - as far as I know Gore-tex is Gore-tex as far as its waterproof and breathable properties go - ie should be excellent in heavy rain too, which is what its designed for, possibly the best fabric of that type there is. Craghopper are a good make too. Obviously being an outer shell type jacket you would often wear it over a fleece in colder weather, but in summer ideal as a lightweight jacket on its own. Personally I would still want to try one on in person, to see how the sleeves and hood/collar fit though. Mind you, £60 for Gore-tex is a cracking price...

Guys just thought I would pass info on to fellow forum members who like to save a pound or two, one member helped me out and I saved £50 on a new netbook pc just after Christmass.
Us fluff chuckers should stick together.

PS. If the Debenham store has a decent Craghopper Dept you should be able to touch - feel - try one on

Martin...
