It may have changed but it is all down to the registration card (this comes with the rod) which you will complete and return to Sage.

Assuming you buy the rod from a Sage dealer you should be covered, as long as you return the card within the prescribed period (I assume this is the case for Sage too).
You may have to return the rod to Sage directly for warranty repair/replacement, though Gary Coxton seems to be very accommodating. Sage Australia brought out full page adverts in their FlyLife mag saying they wouldn't do any warranty service for rods not bought from their network. Cheers, |

Hi Scotty,
I bought couple of Sage rods in Canada when I was living there for a year. I brought them back with me when I returned to the UK. I broke a section of one of them and I called Gary Coxon to arrange for it to be replaced. I was charged around £55 (which is more than I have done before) because I hadn't bought it in the UK. He told me that they know where sage rods have been bought as they can trace the individual serial numbers back to the dealers. You might want to find out for sure the possition with the warranty on rods purchased in the states or Canada. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has had a similar experience?

Hi
With regard to the tracing of serial numbers, all rods have a serial number which relates to the bar code on the rod tube and warranty card sticker,so because of this bar code set up sage know when the rod was sold to the dealer and of course which dealer sold which rod,so its all trace able these days,if you have any warranty queries the phone Gary Coxon and ask him what the deal is etc with regard to the warranties. Gary s phone number is 01606 882 891 . Bry |

I have heard mixed things about Gary Coxon - sometimes he tells people he cannot help them and other times he can - depends on how he is feeling at the time.
I once had a problem with my sage rod that was strangely ticking I phoned him about it and said he had never heard of the problem before - my pal had actually phoned him the previous week with a similar problem so he was just fobbing me off - turned out it was excess wax. I doubt Coxon wants to know if you buy your rod in the states as he does not earn any commision from it anyway. |
