Question Junior Waterproofs???

Hi,

Just wondering if anybody could help. My father is intending to get a good set of waterproofs for my lad, as he has started coming fishing a little more now than previously, and we reckon he will be keen to get out on a boat quite a bit more next season.

It is proving really difficult to find anywhere that does 'decent' waterproofs to fit a 10 year old! I would be really grateful for any pointers or advice, as other than some Bearskin stuff that he found, size xxs, we have had no success! These are supposed to last him 2,3 maybe 4 years - he doesn't grow much this one.

Thanks very much.

Dog, a couple of suggestions.

If you look at women's sizes in the better outdoors and fieldsport shops. The women's sizes run slimmer and shorter than the mens so they might be idea.

For a kid, I'd go with Helley Hansen or some other old fashinoed non-breathables. Tough, absolutely waterproof, and a wide variety of sizes.

In fact, check HH's website, they may have styles for kids.

Cheers Grousey - good suggestions. I managed to find some good kit with Musto. I went down the sailing route, and found some nice stuff designed for children. Not cheap, but it will double up for other uses too - when we go camping etc - so we'll get our money's-worth.

It has got me thinking though - NO fishing waterproofs for kids. What does that say then? Worrying I reckon.
