Default Shakespeare Summit 5/6 reel

I recently won a 6wt fly rod in a small club competition and am looking for a low budget reel to accompany it as my funds are severely limited at present. Does anyone have any experience of the above reel. Is it a decent purchase?

also- The rod in question came with no rod sock or tube, where could i purchase a cordura tube to store it in? It is a Fenwick Black nighthawk 6 weight 4 piece with each blank measuring 73cm approx.

Steve Parton would be a good person to try for the rod sock and tube, you can find him here:

As for the Summit reel, I don't think the build quality is very good at all and personally wouldn't use one. If I were you, I'd drop a PM to Grommit on this forum, he'll be able to recommend a good reel that's fit for purpose and probably do you a very good price on it too.

Steve Parton quotes for Summit Reel "Good Drag, Unreal Quality at the price". Think thats something similar to what i said.

I've been using the summit reel for river fishing for a couple of years now - lovely little reel. Looks and feels as if it should cost more. Definately a good buy.
