Default Sportfish - lack of reply

Hi , I've recently bought a few items from Sportfish, uk, and had a query with the invoice. Since the query I've emailed four times with no reply. Just a cautionary tale for you purchasers out there.
regards
DW

These days I am convinced Spam filters are so tight that some emails never make it through, try a telephone call. No excuse though they should have someone checking the Spam box.

Not being funny but if you can't be arsed to pick the phone up before *****ing on the net I wouldn't take you seriously either?

Yes you might be right about telephoning. I suppose that since they had emailed me with the details, it seemed obvious to email in reply and thus keep all the details in the one place.
I'm not sure I like the '*****ing' comment - my mail seemed to me to be a statement of fact rather than an emotive opinion. It does seem a contradiction that someone should use the web to '*****' about my using the web to '*****'.
However all's well that ends well. I recieved an email just after lunch in which the manager put things right.

Just as a general warning, I've had two cases in the last week where my emails to companies have gone unanswered.

In both cases it was just as Malcolm stated: The company's Spam filter put my message in email jail.

It now appears that some Spam filters automatically bin all emails coming from freemail services like hotmail and yahoo, regardless of what's in the message. The bad news is you get no warning and the message doesn't bounce back back so I had no idea that my email had been squashed.

Bottom line, if you've contacted a business by email and you haven't heard from them, I'd pick up the phone.

Appologies DW. Just I thought this was going to turn into another corporate assasination thread.

As a rule of thumb if I have any queiries regarding items that I have purchased over the net, the first port of call is the Phone.

For example, I purchased some spare spools for my fly reel, and they sent them up and one of them was the wrong size. The first thing I did was to phone them up and speak to them about it.

Send it back and we will replace it and refund your P&P.

This was done in the space of 48hrs.

No Problem JRT. I think the forum is a great place for anglers to tell others where they get good and indifferent service. As it turns out the vast majority of my experience with buying on the web, particularly angling supplies, has been very good.
best wishes,
DW

I can relate to the problems mail order companies are having with junk emails at the moment, I have had to turn my filter up to max filtration as I was receiving in excess of 500 junk emails a day per email address. And as I have 3 web sites each with there own address it is getting a bit out of hand. It does take time to go through them and a fair ammount of genuine emails do end up in the spam folder and some unfortunately do go unnoticed.
